What will you do

As an (Industrial) Painter at Flagship Shipyard in Amsterdam, you are responsible for the complete painting process of our boats — from preparation to flawless final finishing. You work on maintenance, repairs, and finishing of our own fleet as well as external projects, independently managing projects from start to finish.

You assess surfaces, carry out surface preparation (sanding, filling, degreasing), apply primers and topcoats, and continuously monitor quality. You plan and organize your own work and ensure projects are delivered on time and in line with quality standards.

You will work at our shipyard in Amsterdam North within a close-knit team, while maintaining a high level of independence and responsibility. With your craftsmanship, you directly contribute to the appearance, protection, and longevity of our electric and classic boats. We are open to both employment contracts and freelance (self-employed) collaboration.

Working hours: 38 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Salary: In accordance with the Metal & Engineering CAO
Indicative range €3.500 – €3.700 gross per month (depending on experience and education)

Your responsibilities

As a ship painter, you independently carry out painting and coating work on and around our boats. Your tasks include:

  • Preparing surfaces (filling, sanding, degreasing, masking, and priming);

  • Inspecting, repairing, and preparing polyester, fiberglass, aluminum, and steel;

  • Applying paint, varnish, and coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment;

  • Working with 1- and 2-component coatings, including mixing and color matching;

  • Monitoring project planning, quality, and progress;

  • Working safely according to guidelines and using personal protective equipment correctly;

  • Maintaining tools and recording materials and work performed;

  • Coordinating with colleagues to work efficiently and meet quality standards.

  • Employment conditions in accordance with the Metal & Technology Collective Labour Agreement (CAO Metaal & Techniek);

  • Full-time position of 38 hours per week;

  • Salary according to CAO, depending on experience and qualifications;

  • Travel allowance (for commuting distances >10 km one-way) or NS Business Card;

  • 200 vacation hours per year based on a 38-hour workweek;

Requirements

You are a precise, independent, and skilled industrial painter who values quality and enjoys working in a technical environment. You also bring the following:

  • Proven experience as a (ship) painter or industrial painter;

  • Experience with various painting and coating techniques, including 1- and 2-component coatings (preferably maritime);

  • MBO-level education and thinking;

  • Eye for detail and high-quality finishing;

  • Ability to independently plan, execute, and complete painting projects;

  • Safe, structured, and professional working style;

  • Good command of Dutch and/or English;

  • Living in (the vicinity of) Amsterdam.
