Skipper Canal Cruise (Limited Sailing Area / GVB) Amsterdam

What you will do

Are you looking for a challenging role on the water, combined with freedom, responsibility, and variety? We are looking for an enthusiastic skipper for the new season! For Rederij Aemstelland – a proud entity within the Flagship Amsterdam family that specifically focuses on the luxury segment of the canal cruise market – we are looking for experienced skippers in possession of a Limited Sailing Area (Beperkt Vaargebied) or Full Sailing License (Groot Vaarbewijs) for the spring and summer season.

As a skipper, you are responsible for one of our beautiful open sloops or classic saloon boats and the guests on board. You sail your guests smoothly and safely through the iconic canals of Amsterdam. Think of exclusive cruises, such as extensive dinners on the water, festive weddings, or corporate events on board. In addition, you are highly hospitable and consistently ensure a high-quality, relaxing experience for everyone on board.

Practical details

• Location: Amsterdam Center.

• Hours: Flexible scheduling: Mon to Sun.

• Working hours: Variable shifts (flexible between 09:00 and 00:00).

• Availability: Available at least one weekend day per week.

• Start date: Spring/Summer season.

Your responsibilities

As a skipper, you bear full responsibility for your ship and the people on board. Your tasks include:

• Providing our guests with a safe, luxurious, and unforgettable cruise through Amsterdam;

• Helping guests in the higher segment board and disembark professionally and with excellent hospitality;

• Collaborating with the host and assisting with cleaning and preparing the boat between rides;

• Bearing responsibility for the overall safety on board;

• Performing daily (technical) checks on the boat before and after your shift;

• Acting as the perfect host or hostess within an intimate, exclusive setting.

Job requirements

• You are in possession of a valid Full Sailing License (GVB) or Limited Sailing Area (Beperkt Vaargebied) and a VHF radio certificate (marifooncertificaat);

• You have sufficient (sailing) experience on the Amsterdam canals;

• Basic Dutch is a must, and you can also express yourself well in the English language;

• You fit well within a small and close-knit team and have a proactive, flexible attitude;

• You are comfortable with flexible hours and variable shifts (between 09:00 and 00:00);

• You are available at least one weekend day per week.
