Flagship Amsterdam is a young, fast-growing canal cruise company in the heart of Amsterdam. We offer both public and private cruises on our beautiful open sloops and classic salon boats. What started in 2017 with just three boats has now grown to over 60 vessels and we’re still expanding! Each year, we welcome guests from more than 55 different countries, sailing all year round. This is made possible by a young and ambitious team of over 800 (seasonal) employees.

What you’ll do

As Harbour Manager, you are the overarching responsible manager for both of Flagship Amsterdam’s harbours. Your base is E-harbour in Amsterdam (Overamstel), from where you also oversee operations in Staverno and are regularly present on site. You are a visible leader with a strong personality, able to maintain oversight, make decisive calls, and actively participate in daily operations. This is not a role from the sidelines, but a hands-on leadership position where you lead by example.

You will manage the harbour teams, oversee daily operations, and ensure people, equipment, and processes work together optimally. You know what’s happening on the work floor, identify issues early, and address them decisively. At the same time, you keep an eye on your team: motivating, coaching, and conducting performance and development discussions.

You report to the Head of Operations and are the central point of contact for everything happening in and around the harbours.

Your responsibilities

• Lead the harbour teams at both locations (±10–15 employees per harbour);

• Actively work on the floor and lead by example;

• Ensure all boats are prepared on time, fully, and safely for the next sailing;

• Supervise cleaning, provisioning, and minor maintenance of the fleet;

• Identify and carry out maintenance and repair tasks;

• Manage inventory and order necessary materials;

• Facilitate loading and unloading schedules;

• Prepare staff schedules and handle administrative tasks;

• Receive skippers after their shifts and ensure smooth handovers;

• Conduct performance reviews, coach staff, and identify bottlenecks;

• Organize, coordinate, and improve operational and business processes;

• Ensure safety, quality, and structure on the work floor.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in an operational leadership role (e.g., shift manager, team leader, or production supervisor);

• Strong personality: you take responsibility, make decisions confidently, and perform well under pressure;

• Hands-on leader who works alongside the team while maintaining oversight in stressful situations;

• MBO/HBO level of education or equivalent;

• Technically skilled, able to perform minor repairs on (electric) boats;

• Affinity with boats and/or the maritime environment is a clear plus;

• Strong communication and organizational skills, with a focus on both people and results;

• Flexible and available for evenings and weekends, and able to work at both locations;

• Fluent in English, Dutch fluency is a plus.
