Ship Painter Amsterdam – Flagship Shipyard

What will you do

As an (Industrial) Painter at Flagship Shipyard in Amsterdam, you are responsible for the complete painting process of our boats – from preparation to final finish. You will work on the maintenance, repair, and finishing of both our own fleet and external projects, taking full ownership of a project and ensuring it is carried out carefully from start to finish.

You will assess the condition of surfaces, carry out preparatory work (sanding, filling, degreasing), apply primers and topcoats, and continuously monitor the quality of the final result. You are responsible for planning and executing your tasks, ensuring that each project is completed on time and meets quality standards.

You will work in a professional and hands-on environment at our shipyard in Amsterdam North. While you are part of a close-knit team, we expect you to work independently, take ownership, and be accountable for the complete painting process. Thanks to your craftsmanship and independent approach, you directly contribute to the appearance, protection, and longevity of our electric and classic boats.

Contract: Full-time
Working hours: 38 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Salary: In accordance with the Metal & Engineering CAO

Indicative range €3.500 – €3.700 gross per month (depending on experience and education)

Your responsibilities

As a ship painter, you are responsible for carrying out painting and coating work on and around our boats. Your tasks include:

• Independently preparing surfaces for painting, including filling, sanding, degreasing, masking, and priming;

• Inspecting, repairing, and preparing damaged surfaces made of polyester, fiberglass, aluminum, and steel;

• Applying paint, varnish, and coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment;

• Working with 1- and 2-component coatings, including accurate mixing and color matching;

• Monitoring the planning, quality, and progress of your projects;

• Working safely according to current guidelines and correctly using protective equipment;

• Cleaning and maintaining tools and materials;

• Coordinating with colleagues at the shipyard to carry out work efficiently and according to quality standards;

• Recording materials used and tasks completed.

About Flagship Shipyard

Flagship Shipyard B.V. is the maintenance and project shipyard of Flagship Amsterdam, located in Amsterdam Noord. At the shipyard, we carry out maintenance, repairs and projects for our own fleet of electric and classic boats, as well as for external clients.

Requirements

You are a precise, independent, and skilled industrial painter who values quality and enjoys working in a technical environment. In addition, you identify with the following:

• Proven experience as a (ship) painter or industrial painter;

• Proficient in various painting and coating techniques, including 1- and 2-component coatings;

• Experience with industrial, and preferably maritime, coatings;

• MBO level of education and thinking;

• Strong eye for detail, finishing, and the final result of a project;

• Ability to independently plan, execute, and complete painting projects;

• Able to work safely, in a structured and professional manner;

• Good command of Dutch and/or English;

• Living in Amsterdam or the surrounding area.
