Flagship Shipyard B.V. is the specialist maintenance and project shipyard of Flagship Amsterdam, located in Amsterdam North. At the shipyard, we carry out maintenance, repairs, and various projects on our own fleet of electric and classic boats, as well as for external clients. Flagship Shipyard is part of Flagship Amsterdam, a young, fast-growing shipping company with over 60 vessels and a team of 800 (seasonal) employees. Flagship is known for its excellent service and unique tours in Amsterdam, and the shipyard plays a crucial role in keeping the fleet in top condition.

What will you do?

We are looking for an experienced and competent ship painter to strengthen our team. You have previously gained knowledge and experience with various industrial and non-industrial coatings, preferably including marine-related coatings.

You will be responsible for carrying out repairs, preparing surfaces of different materials, and applying paint, varnish, and other finishes to various surfaces according to project specifications. This work will be carried out on and around the ships in our own fleet as well as on external projects. You work accurately, efficiently, and independently, but also collaborate well with your colleagues.

Your responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces for painting, such as filling, sanding, masking, and priming;

• Prepare damaged surfaces, such as polyester, fiberglass, aluminum, and steel;

• Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, spray guns, etc.;

• Knowledge of 1- and 2-component coatings, including mixing and color matching;

• Work safely according to guidelines and use appropriate protective equipment;

• Clean and maintain tools and equipment;

• Communicate effectively with colleagues to meet project requirements and deadlines;

• Keep accurate records of materials used and work performed.

What we offer

• Full-time employment of 38 hours per week (Monday to Friday);

• Salary according to the Metal and Engineering Collective Labour Agreement, depending on experience and education (approx. €2,350 - €2,900 gross per month for 38 hours);

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience as a painter;

• Proficiency in various painting techniques;

• Knowledge of paint mixing and matching;

• Good eye for detail;

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

• MBO-level education;

• Good command in Dutch and/or English language;

• Resident of Amsterdam or surrounding area.
